The Long and Skorts of it:
In June of 2023, the International Hockey Federation amended its rules to allow players more of a choice on their kit, but the Camogie Association is still well behind with rule 6(b) of the GAA camogie code currently stating that players must wear a skirt/skort/divided skirt to play. But most players prefer shorts – or at the very least the CHOICE to wear them.
MSPCamogie stands in solidarity with all players across the country advocating for choice and on Sunday morning our Junior team made the decision to wear shorts instead of skorts for their game v Feenagh/Kilmeedy in line with the overwhelming majority (83%) of inter-county players recently surveyed. Unfortunately they were told the game could not go ahead until they changed. Whether it’s shorts or skorts, comfort, confidence, and personal preference should ALWAYS be respected on the pitch. We support our players’ right to choose what they wear — because performance and equality matter most. Hard luck to our Junior Team who lost out to Feenagh/Kilmeedy. Camogie:
We were delighted to have Rosa Harrington and Saoirse Browne travel to Kildimo on Wednesday night to represent #MSPCamogie and take part in this years Feile Skills Competition. They were joined by players from clubs across limerick for the event hosted by the wonderful team at Limerick Camogie Development. Congratulations to Saoirse who came in first place. On Saturday, she travel to Kilmallock GAA to represent Limerick in the Munster finals. The skill levels were through the roof, with Waterford coming out on top on the day.

Primary School:
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Primary School Hurling “A” boys County Final for the Olo Cup was an all-parish affair, with St. Nessan’s and Gaelscoil an Ráithín competing. The vast majority of players on both teams are proud members of our Mungret St. Pauls U13 and U12 squads.
It is always a proud moment to hear our players getting to play in a final, we want to congratulate both teams in what was an exciting final on Friday 16 May in Claughaun. Unfortunately, there had to be a winner with was Gaelscoil an Ráithín by just 1 goal, this was a tremendous achievement for these young players and a true testament to the strength and talent within our club at this age group. U-13 Hurling Division 3:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-4 Dromcollogher/Broadford 0-5
Mungret St. Pauls U-13 Division 3 team made the journey to Dromcollogher/Broadford on Thursday evening, 15 May 2025 for what turned out to be a closely contested and hard-fought encounter.
Right from the throw-in, both sides showed great determination and commitment, with little separating the teams throughout the match. Mungret St. Pauls defence stood tall under pressure, consistently breaking up attacks and clearing their lines, while the midfield worked hard to gain possession and drive the team forward.
In attack, Mungret St. Pauls created several opportunities through well-worked plays and strong individual efforts. The forwards took their scores well under tight marking, and showed great teamwork in trying to find openings against a disciplined home defence.
Despite the narrow margin at the final whistle, this was a performance full of heart and character from Mungret St. Pauls. The players gave everything on the pitch, battling right to the end and showing great resilience in a game where every score mattered.
The experience gained in such a tight contest will stand to this group as they continue their development. Well done to all the players and mentors for their efforts — a strong showing on the road and plenty of positives to take from the game. The Division 3 team have now completed their league.

U-13 Hurling Division 1:
Mungret St. Pauls U-13 hurlers put in a commanding performance on home turf on Thursday evening, 15 May 2025 as they welcomed Doon in the last of their group matches. From the opening whistle, Mungret St. Pauls set the tone with intensity, work rate, and impressive skill on display throughout the pitch.
The first half saw the Mungret St. Pauls forwards in sharp form, linking up beautifully and finding their range early. Their quick ball movement and clever support play carved open the Doon defence time and again, while the midfielders worked tirelessly to control the tempo and supply quality ball into the attack.
Defensively, Mungret St. Pauls were equally resolute. The backline showed great discipline and communication, limiting Doon’s chances and quickly turning over possession to launch counter-attacks. The team’s ability to transition from defence to attack was a hallmark of their performance.
In the second half, Mungret St. Pauls continued to dictate the game with a relentless work ethic and a collective team spirit. A well-taken goal early in the half was the result of patient build-up and precise finishing. Even as Doon battled gamely, Mungret St. Pauls remained focused and disciplined, finishing strong.
This result is a testament to the hard work being done on the training ground and the progress being made by this talented group. Well done to all involved — a proud night for Mungret St. Pauls! They finish top of their group after 2 wins from the 2 games and await the fixture for the League Final.
