Opening of Bernie’s Gym:
We marked a proud milestone last week with the official opening of Bernie’s Gym, a fantastic state-of-the-art new facility that will support the development of our players and members for years to come.
We were honoured to welcome several distinguished guests, including Councillor Catherine Slattery, JP McManus, County Board officials Seamus McNamara, County Board officials Sean Burke, Wayne Fitzgerald and Pat Donnelly, along with Mary Hassett, Pat Davoren, Frank Reidy and Paul Foley, Treasurer of the Munster GAA Council.
It was also a privilege to welcome two legends of Limerick hurling, 1973 All-Ireland-winning captain Eamon Grimes and five-time All-Star Pat Hartigan, whose presence added a special sense of history to the evening. Members of the 2007 Limerick All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final team were also in attendance, including Ollie Moran, Dinny Moloney and Brian Geary.
The new facility is named in honour of club legend and All-Ireland winner Bernie Hartigan, whose contribution to both Old Christians and Limerick hurling has been immense. Bernie’s Gym will play an important role in helping players of all ages develop their strength, conditioning and overall fitness.
A huge thank you goes to the club’s Development Committee, whose vision and hard work made this project possible. We also extend our thanks to our Community Employment staff, who worked tirelessly to have everything in place for the opening.
Finally, we would like to thank our sponsors on the night, The Spotted Dog Bar and Supermac’s Roxboro, for providing the catering and to everyone who came along to support such a special occasion for the club.

Old Christians GAA is officially looking for new players to join our ranks for the 2026 season! Whether you’re an experienced hurler or a complete beginner, we want to hear from you.
We’re especially eager to connect with people who have recently moved to Limerick for work or university and are looking for a club to call home. If you’re living in the city but aren’t currently connected to a club, or if you’re from outside the county and seeking a new team, you’ll find a warm welcome here at Old Christians.
Junior Training:
Junior hurling training has resumed and takes place every Monday and Thursday from 7–8 pm in Rathbane. Everyone is welcome!

Underage training is held every Thursday from 6 pm at Old Christians GAA Club. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
