We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Howard family on the passing of Patricia (Patsy) Walker, formerly of the Howard family. She will be fondly missed by all who knew her. Woodlands House Hotel County Junior Semi-Final:
Old Christians’ championship run ended on Sunday in Rhebogue, as they fell to a dominant Castletown Ballyagran side in the Woodlands House Hotel countyJunior A semi-final. Facing blustery conditions and a strong cross breeze, the Rathbane men battled with heart, grit, and unyielding spirit throughout.
The game began dramatically, with Niall Ahern firing an early chance that was saved brilliantly, before Ballyagran struck two quick goals to seize control. Dylan Blackhall kept Christians in touch with frees, while Brian Cleere, Kevin Howard, and Darragh Keane added fine points. Despite their best efforts, Ballyagran led 3-12 to 0-5 at halftime.
The second half saw Christians roar back into the contest. Blackhall’s second goal in the 49th minute sparked hope, and he added further points from frees. Howard, Keane, and Glen Hannon also contributed, but it simply wasn’t to be, with Castletown Ballygran showing their class and pedigree to run out deserved victors on a final score line of 3-27 to 2-12.
Dylan Blackhall finished the season as Old Christians’ top scorer with 8-33. The lads can hold their heads high after a season of growth, pride, and grit. We look forward to building on our remarkable season next year. Old Christians Abú.
